DREAMS START, University College London
Persuading NHS commissioners to adopt a new, clinically-proven dementia intervention
DREAMS: START is a psychological intervention designed to help improve the sleep and quality of life of people with dementia and their caregivers.
The Challenge
The intervention has been proven effective in a clinical trial, with results published in the Lancet Healthy Longevity.
DREAMS: START need the support of NHS Commissioners in order to reach patients.
The UCL team who devised the intervention needed help raising awareness about DREAMS: START and telling the stories of those who have benefited.
How we helped
A short animation to explain the intervention - why it’s needed, who can benefit, how it works, and what the trial showed.
Featuring the testimony of a carer with lived experience who took part in the trial, voiced by an actor.
“It’s so important to include the voices of people with lived experience whenever possible. In this animation, hearing directly from a carer about how DREAMS: START helped them and their family is what makes audiences understand the true value of the intervention and why it matters.”
